Cricut Maker 4
While a lot of hobbyists hoped to see a brand-new machine with some exciting new features, Cricut Maker 4 seems to be a solid upgrade from Maker 3. All it offers is a pretty new color (there should be two versions, seashell and sage) and faster speeds than the predecessor. Is it enough to amaze crafters?
Let's get into details and see what exactly Maker 4 is, which options it delivers, what tools it supports, and learn the Cricut Maker 4 price point.

Maker 4 Release Date
Cricut unveiled their newest Cricut Maker 4 and Explore 4 in elegant seashell color on the same day, February 27, 2025. However, you cannot purchase either smart cutting machine until midnight, February 28, 2025.

Rumors about the Maker 4 release have been around for a few years. Hobbyists hoped the machine would be a giant upgrade from Maker 3 or older Maker. Some enthusiasts wished to see the machine working with more than 13 tools supported by devices of previous generations. Others believed that the company would offer an option to use three tools at once without having to switch back and forth between the scoring stylus/wheel, perforation, foil, or debossing tip and knives. For now, these hopes and dreams remain wishes for the future.
Cricut Maker 4 Price
The starting Maker 4 price is $399 for the machine only (Access Members always get an automatic discount and can buy it for $359). The bundles are more expensive, starting at $593 and up to $603 or more.

P.S. If you have a Target store nearby, check it out because many hobbyists reported they could get the previous Maker 3 with a 50% discount. This price is not reflected on the shelf or online, but if you go to register and double-check, you might be lucky to grab this smart cutting machine for under $200.
At Michaels, you can get an exclusive Maker 4 in sage color for $449 (the bundle includes a smart cutting machine and extra vinyl, tools, and other materials needed to start making right out of the box) or in seashell color for $399.

Maker 4 Specs
Just like Maker 3, the newest Machine 4 can cut, score, engrave, deboss, foil, write, draw, and perforate compatible materials. It supports over 300 materials, including the Smart ones and regular cardstock, vinyl, leather, iron-on, and more.
What makes this machine a little bit different is its maximum speed, which can nearly double compared to the previous generation. According to Cricut, their Maker 4, released in 2025, can cut with speeds up to 14.1 ips (please note that such speed is only possible with Smart Materials that don't require a mat and won't be achievable if you cut fabrics). Besides, due to the higher speeds, the newest machine, 4, is louder than 3 or the original Maker.
Other than that, the elegant, smart cutting machine is just a solid upgrade from Maker 3. It boasts precisely the same functions, supports the same materials, and works with the same tools and mats (or cuts without a mat if you have Smart Materials).

Cricut Maker 4 dimensions are 22.1 in x 7.1 in x 6.2 in.
The machine works with 12 x 12 inches and 12 x 25 inches mats like all Makers and Explores, letting you create a project up to 11.5 inches wide and 23.5 inches long.
If using Smart Materials, your projects can be as wide as 11.7 inches and as long as 12 feet.
The US, Canada, and Mexico are the first countries to see the upgrade. Other countries should see this release starting March 14, 2025.
Would I upgrade my Maker to Maker 4 this year? Absolutely not. I got the champagne Maker under $200 on sale in the end of 2024, and you can potentially find Maker 3 at a similar price these days. If you don't have a Cricut smart cutting machine and wish to own one, the latest Maker 4 can be a good choice for you (if you are willing to pay its full price).
Thank you so much for the great review. I hadn’t even opened mine and now I have a much better knowledge of it. You are great.
